SearchEngineWatch is reporting that Microsoft will make an announcement tomorrow of the official launch of Microsoft Live Search Cash Back, their re-branding of the Jellyfish cashback shopping site.
The switchover already started today, which I can attest to by virtue of receiving an account update email today from Live Search Cashback (versus Jellyfish.com).
Smack Shopping, the reverse auction side of Jellyfish.com, is still up and running. If you’re not familiar with the way it works, an item is put up for sale at a set price that includes tax and shipping, and as the seconds tick away, the price drops until the item is bought. Smack Shopping always has an item up for sale, but during live events hosted by Jellyfish staff, the quantity of an item may be (and usually is) more than 1. You never know until the item sells out, though, so it amounts to a game of chicken: buy it now, or hold off and hope there’s more than one for sale so the price will drop lower.
On Thursday, there will be a 24 Hour Smack Attack starting at midnight central time. I would assume this would mean it’s a hosted show with possibly more than one of each item up for sale. And as always, you can chat with other members while you watch the price drop!
Go straight here for the Smack Reverse auction, or if you haven’t created an account on Smack Shopping yet, you’ll want to go here first.

I still haven’t been able to get my account converted – I use the link in the email sent from microsoft but it just errors out. I also see that the contact us link in the email errors out as well. Guess they still have a lot of work to do.
Becky, were you able to migrate accounts smoothly?
I managed eventually to use the email link to set up a Live Search Cashback account but at no point did it migrate my jellyfish account (several hundred dollars owing). I can now login (about 50% of the time) to the Live Search Cashback account but it shows $0.
Neither the contact us link in the email nor the contact us link on the site goes anywhere – they both just produce an error message so there is no way I can contact Live Search Cashback…. I did email Jellyfish through their contact us link but they didn’t respond to my previous email about this so who knows if they will this time.
I did think it might be because I was using a mac (now that it’s a microsoft service it wouldn’t surprise me if it suddenly didn’t work properly with anything other than IE) so I tried it with Internet Explorer 7 on XP and got the exact same problems….
Any ideas?
Becky, do you have any contacts at Jellyfish/Live Search Cashback that you can ask what is going on and alert to the non-working contact forms?
Thanks,
Andrew
Andrew, as a JF shopper and smack member, what I’ve found is using product links works. http://search.live.com/cashback/products/offerings/4038/5799153
Good Luck
PS: I already got a few paypal payments from the MS people
pblgov, did you manage to transfer your existing jellyfish balance over to your new account? Jellyfish owes me several hundred that was pending before all the changes and although I followed the instructions to transfer my account, and can log into the live account 50% of the time, everything has a $0 balance.
I am not willing to shop through them until they can get their system to transfer the outstanding balance and until they actually can have working contact us links.
Still no reply from from my email to Jellyfish support.
Becky – can you ask someone at Jellyfish about this please?
Andrew, try this:
https://support.search.live.com/default.aspx?productkey=cashbackso&mkt=en-us
That’ll take you to the contact page — for live help by chat during business hours or an email contact link. Lemme know how it goes! I didn’t have any problems transferring my account over.
Interesting – the support link doesn’t work on a Mac but does work on IE for windows so seems that at least in this aspect Live Search Cashback is (for no good reason) tied into Windows…..
I will let you know if I here from them anytime soon.
Got a reply saying that it should have worked and to allow up to 2 hours from the time of establishing the account for the transfer to work. Obviously I replied and said that it has been a week so please escalate. We’ll see what happens next.
Also, re: browser issues they said “Also, the only fully supported browser is Internet Explorer. While our services should work in other browsers, we cannot guarantee this.” which since you can’t even use the contact us form with Safari would indicate to me that they are doing their typical, we don’t care about standards compliant sites, and if you use any other non windows+ie platform and you have a problem – tough luck! (which I am sure will be their first line of defense for missing payments)….
Andrew, sounds like standard MS bs.
I have no trouble using IE or FF.
I haven’t tried on safari but will when I get home (forgot the macbook at home) and let you know.
Good luck.
Andrew, on the mac now. I can load the cashback site 100%.
Microsoft finally got my balance into my account yesterday. So only 3 weeks.
