I just started getting a subscription to Budget Living magazine – it’s a new mag, like only on its second or third issue. Anyhow, I just wanted to recommend it to other bargain-hunters out there. It’s awesome! The Feb/Mar issue has articles on turning old books into hangable origami art, making your own fabric boxes and faux mercury glass, repaning your windows, cheap entertainment, tips for filing your own taxes, how to find quality (vintage) second-hand clothing, cool (and cheap) TV trays, wallets, and stools, etc.
I looked around and the only two places I found where you can get rewarded for a subscription are ValueMags and MagMall, where the subscription runs for $14.95/year in both places (cover price is $3.99 and there are 6 issues a year). Here is Sdrawer’s list of rewards programs that will pay you for ValueMags (runs about a 25% rebate) and MagMall (about 15%). If you want to get it even cheaper but without rewards, it’s available for $4.97 at MagazineValues.com.

You can get 6 months of it for free on MyPoints. Go to Try It Out and got to the magazines section. You have to give your credit card number, but they don’t credit it until after the six months is up and by then you can figure out if you like it and then get a better deal elsewhere. You get 50 MyPoints for checking it out.
Are you sure? Because this is what the fine print on the MyPoints offer says: “The credit card you provide will be charged the price shown. Six months from making your selections you can call to cancel and receive a full refund.” If you’re receiving a refund, that would imply that you had previously been charged.
I got the budget living free, without posting a credit card, I think it was through mypoints

It’s a pretty cool magazine, don’t you think? It’s not aimed at extreme tightwads, and it’s not a froufrou luxury magazine, but it’s about how to make the most of your money, making things cheap that look nice, etc.
