MyPoints’ Owner Buys FTD

Yesterday, United Online (’s owner) announced it was buying FTD for $800 million. Among other reasons given by United Online’s CEO Mark Goldston for the unusual acquisition, UNTD wants to diversify its revenue streams. Also interesting: “We will explore opportunities to encourage repeat purchases of FTD products using reward programs based on our MyPoints loyalty marketing service.”

That’s true, Andrew! What do you think will happen with that — will United pull FTD’s participation on the other rewards programs (besides MyPoints)?
