Best Redemptions at MyPoints

All redemptions at MyPoints are NOT created equal! A $25 gift card for one merchant may cost substantially less than a $25 gift card for another merchant. This is a quick-and-dirty list of the best redemptions for members of the MyPoints rewards program. Note that point values change often (they changed in March) and this is only valid as of the date posted.
Cheapest $5 GCs (750 points): Barnes and Noble Online, Panera Bread, Quiznos, Red Lobster/Olive Garden. Others are 800.
Cheapest $10 GCs (1400 points, up from 1250 in 8/05): Barnes and Noble, Bass Pro, Bath and Body Works, Brinker, Brunswick, Footlocker, Gap, Linens and Things, Metromedia, Old Navy, Panera Bread, Pier One, Red Lobster/Olive Garden, REI, and Stuart Anderson’s. Others are either 1,450 or 1,500 points.
ONLY $15 GC: KBToys, for 2,000 points.
Cheapest $25 GCs (3250 points, up from 3000 points in 8/05): Barnes and Noble, Bass Pro, Bath and Body Works, Bloomingdale’s, Bon-Ton, Brinker, Brunswick, Finish Line, Footlocker, Gap, Harry and David, Lids, Linens and Things, Macy’s, Marriott, Metromedia, Motherhood, Old Navy, Omaha Steaks, Overstock, Panera Bread, Pier One, Red Lobster/Olive Garden, Ritz-Carlton, Sally Beauty, Staples, Stuart Anderson’s, or Timberland. Others are 3,500 or 3,750. (Note: $25 Restaurant.com GCs are 1,250 points but their GCs are regularly sold way below $25 anyway…the actual value of this redemption is about $10.)
ONLY $30 GC: KBToys, for 4,000 points.
Cheapest $50 GCs (6,250 points, was 5,750 in 8/05): Bass Pro, Bloomingdale’s, Bon-Ton, Brunswick, Finish Line, Gap, Harry and David, KBToys, Lids, Linens and Things, Macy’s, Marriott, Metromedia, Motherhood Maternity, Old Navy, Omaha Steaks, Pier One, Ritz-Carlton, Sally Beauty, Staples, Stuart Anderson’s, and Timberland. Others are 6,750, 7,250, or 7,500 points
Cheapest $75 GC (8,750, was 8,500 in 8/05): Omaha Steaks. Others are 9,000 or 9,500 points.
Cheapest $100 GCs (11,500, was 11,250 in 8/05): Omaha Steaks. Others are 12,000 or 13,000.
Remember, ALWAYS use caution when hoarding points! Higher dollar redemptions are sometimes a slightly better value, but go this route at your own risk — programs can change the cost to cash out at any time, and programs shut down entirely when they’re in financial straits. Just use your best judgment. :)

I have a balance of about 3500 points @ MyPoints. Its taken me about 3 years to save those just from clciking on their emails..lol
My question is about redemption. If I were to redeem these points for a bunch of $5 gc’s, would I get actual gc’s or electronic ones? And if they are electronic, are they transferable? I wish to be able to use these as prizes for giveways at my website.
Thanks for taking time to read this!
Max~

I have always gotten an actual gift card in the mail except where it specifically stated that it was for online purchases only (as in Omaha Steaks or WebCertificates). I have redeemed points for a wide variety of things and am always surprised at how quick their turnaround is.

I got my AMC Theatres award today! Instead of the 2 free soft drinks, 1 popcorn and 2 movie tickets. I ONLY got the 2 AMC Movie Tickets in my awards envelope! No free drinks nor free popcorn. I doubled checked my letter that came with it and sure enough it ONLY says, 2 Free Movies Tickets on it. Did this happen to anyone else?

I just noticed today that Memolink is now only giving 3 points for the site of the day instead of five and pchpoints dropped their site of the day points to 15 from 25

Don’t even worry about earning MyPoints gift cards anymore. The last one I received had been “devalued” three months before and was worthless when it was mailed to me. I have reported this to the Better Business Bureau in San Francisco who hopefully will care about this, because MyPoints does not appear to care at all.

I’ve been with my points for at least five years now, and I’ve never had major problems with them. Once I didn’t get points for something I signed up for, but their customer service was very helpfull. Everything was cleared up within a week.
I have gotten tons of rewards from them (less now that you can’t use unlimited referals, but how many friends do most people have anyway!) the last was a few months ago, and everything was fine. Anne, I’d like to know more about how they responded (or didn’t) to your problems. I like to keep up on what’s going on with my reward programs.

I have been a member for at least 5 years and have redeemed rewards twice for Boston Market. Have gotten physical certificates in the mail. I have been saving up now (since the BM closed in my neighborhood). Am up to almost 13000 now and have had a couple of problems with their support lately. Did not get points for buying something at HomeDepot’s web site and one of their downloadable books is not available after you get through the steps. They responded in email that they will look into it but that’s it. What are you guys suggestions once I get to 13000 points, which is my goal. I know I can get $100 at Circuit City.

I am not sure how long I have been a member with MyPoints but I have 18,055 points and need 1445 more points in order to cash in for three $50 dollar GC’s to Home Depot. I ordered flowers this past Valentines Day which should give me another 500 points (they havent posted yet) so I am getting closer. :) I have had a problem with the site once where points never posted but an e-mail to them fixed that the next day. I also just cashed in points for Memolink and got my 50 dollar GC to Home Depot within 2 weeks…. so I should be able to get blinds for my new house finally!

I have been a my points member for several years. NEVER once have I had a problem. Their people are very nice and very helpful and fast to respond to inquiries. I have found that their ads are actually quite informative, so recieving the points is an added bonus. So many people shop on the internet now. You might as well get a bonus for doing so! It’s safe and convenient. My points is geared for our fast food mentality! Always on the go and we want it fast! A big thank you to My Points!

I was reading faq’s on mypoints website. I thought I read that you can get points for posting in their member forums, but when I went back to re-read I couldnt’ find the statement. Has anybody heard of this or I am just loosing my mind? thanks, linda

Now I really feel dumb, mypoints dont’ even have a newsgroup. I obviously need a break from surfing. However, I do know that savingadvice.com counts points for posting, but they have stupid stuff, like making your posting name cool with an icon. However, they have an excellent freebie poster anywhere from 10 to over 20 a day are added, worth checking out. Maybe somebody knows of another group that awards points for posting. Regards, linda

I’ve only had 2 problems with MyPoints. I “took advantage of their Email and ordered meds at PetMeds (didn’t save the confirmation) and never got the points. They told me to contact Petmeds (who did not respond) I am now older and wiser and save my confirmations and their Email offers if I take advantage of them I also had the same experience with a purchase of lamps. I lost out on well over a thousand points between the two.

I have been a member of MyPoints for about 3-4 years and love it. It is so easy to earn points, since I am always on the internet. I have earned several points and redeemed them for gift cards. I am impressed at how fast I received my gift cards….It said that it would take 2-6 weeks for me to receive them and I received them in less than 2. The best thing is that they came at a good time for me…..I have a friend that needs school clothes for her son, and I am able to help this way…also my grandchildren need things and this helps to be able to provide the things they need…..Thank You very much MyPoints. I will continue being a member as long as I can access the internet.

I just redeemed points again at MyPoints, and received the gift cards within 2 weeks! I haven’t had any problems with MyP in several years (granted, I’ve been lucky), but it seems to me they are still doing the job they’ve promised, in this regard.

ok you don’t even know for A FACT that mypoints is going away! so why are so paraniod?
i’m very skeptical about what i read on this site cause it just doesn’t seem believeable
mypoints isn’t going to be going anywhere
just because a company needs help doesn’t mean they are going away
only an idiot would believe this advice on this site

Hi, Unknown Surfer! Well, you’re certainly entitled to your opinion, and thanks for sharing it with us! Of course it’s your right to agree or disagree with whatever you’d like; however, it is a fact that MyPoints’ parent company, United Air Lines, is in bankruptcy proceedings, and it is a fact that UAL announced to the bankruptcy court in Chicago recently that it intends to sell MyPoints. These are facts. Google them.
Everyone has a different risk tolerance. MyPoints may continue on with its new owners with no changes whatsoever. But on the flip side, the new owners may choose to change the program and devalue the points or eliminate them entirely. Who knows?
If having that up in the air doesn’t bother you, don’t change your habits. If you don’t like this level of uncertainty, use a different rewards program. It’s as simple as that!
Kindest regards,
Becky Ford

I have redeemed points MANY times and have never had one bit of trouble with the My Points site. Always receive cards in about 10 days!

I redeemed my points for a $25.00 gift card in January, when everyone was screaming, My Points was going under. Received a real card in the mail in one week.
Took my Granddaughter shopping!

Have tried for three weeks to find out what companies still offer redemption value through MyPoints. All I get from MyPoints are canned responses; however, direct e-mails to both Target and Circuit City got me the same response: they no longer participate in the redemption program.

I have also redeemed twice in 8 months for two walmart gift cards. I have always earned points fast through the e-mails never having to spend any money shopping to earn points :-) been a member for a few years now and I really enjoy it. Don’t know what the future holds for the program but while it’s here for now earn, watch and wait. :-)

I have been reading e-mails and answering surveys since June 2006. This is the first time I have achieved any reward at all for my time and steady entries. I got a $10 gift card for CVS at the cost of 1500 pts. Thank you for keeping mypoints straight. The others either have not acknowledeged my contributions or say that I have not made any at all.
