Kool-Aid to Eliminate Kool Points Program

January 20, 2007 · 189 comments

First Betty Crocker points are discontinued, and now this? (sigh) It’s a sad year in the loyalty program biz.
Kraft Foods has a note on their website saying, “Use your KOOL-AID points for great KOOL-AID items. But don’t delay, because these items are only available while supplies last or until June 30, 2007, when the Kool Points program ends.
Update, May 2009: By popular demand, Kool-Aid will allow you to redeem any accumulated points using this form, until June 30, 2010! They also say the 800-367-9225 is still the number to call if you have questions or concerns.
Some would say this program has been dying a slow death for years, with the items available for points redemption getting fewer and have required a greater amount of cash in addition to the points. I’ve had members posting complaints on my review of Kool-Aid Points since 2004.
Kraft says to call 1-800-367-9225 for more information on this, or to contact them here.
Thanks to Cathie for the heads-up on this.

My kids have been saving their Kool-Aid points for a long time in hopes that something worth sending off for like the super balls, would become available, and now that we have saved over 200 points, and try to go onto the website,, we find this out!!! My five year old actually started to cry!! SOOOOOO sad–Tell the Kool-Aid Man that he is no longer cheered at when we see one of his commercials. They have even lost interest in Kool-Aid itself. My son actually picked water over Kool-aid yesterday!! Imagine my surprise. I have been drinking Kool-Aid ever since I can remember. Maybe I’ll keep the points for a while in hopes that points will be available again, or at least until we can get a catalog to redeem our points, if possible. Thanks–disappointed 4

Why, if they have discontinued the points program in 2007 are they still selling the packages with points on them.

I cannot believe this! I have saved of 300 Kool Points and now the Kool Point Program is over. I am so mad now. I have been saving these things for 3/4 years now I can’t redeem my tickets to get a prize. I wish I can get a catalog to get to redeem these tickets. My little brother whom I have save these tickets for was so upset. I hope this will become available again.

It’s fine if they want to discontinue the point’s program. But they should allow people cash in what the already have and stop selling packages with points on them

This really is disappointing. Although, I somehow feel free to buy whatever drinks I want for my kids. In the back of my mind I would always think, I should just get koolaid so the kids can collect the points. 300 points later, nothing. Why did I waste all these years? We will be drinking homemade lemonade and fruit juices more often and trying different kinds of mixes. Thank you, Kraft, for liberating me of the desire to buy koolaid!

My son and I have been collecting points for over thirty years. I would get kool aid gifts for Christmas gifts for my brothers. And now that they’re grown they still talk about the cool shirts I got them and the beach towels and watches. Are you going to bring them back. We sure miss it and have lots of points still that we could use.

Why don’t you send your feeling to Kraft. I’m sure they probably won’t reintroduce the program, but as a consumer, I think it is our responsibility to give them some feedback. Here’s a link. I hope it works.

To get a catalog from Kraft call 1-800-367-9225 and they will send you one and also you can talk to someone there and tell them how you feel about the points being canceled, My friends and family have called several times every day and every week and maybe it will help and maybe it wont but they will get the message sometime.

When I buy Kool-Aid I look for the points. Telling bad news to one child is hard to deal with; now I have got to tell THREE!
Kool-Aid,
You should stop selling things with points, give people a chance to redeam what points they have, OR BRING THE REWARD POINTS BACK.

Kids like things they can work towards, its fun for them. You take the fun out of life for kids, what kind of business are you running?????

I have over 3,000 points, my daughter thinks kool aid man is great. Now what do I tell her when she can’t get anything. Why do you still have points on the containers? Can’t you make everyone happy and bring back the products!! Why do you take something away that makes people happy? I don’t get it.

Reply

CJ May 24, 2008 at 6:01 pm

Please listen to your customers…I can’t imagine a better marketing gimick…..get people to buy your brand to collect points to obtain products with your logo…..free advertising or what!!!!
There is a lot of competition out there that may be cheaper, why should we stay loyal to a company that has abandoned us? I know that I am going to try other products as there is no incentive to stay with Kool-aid. I will hang on to my points untill you come to your senses.

Now, I have children and want to redeem point for fun and cool prizes, log onto the site only to learn it’s been discontinued. Imagine my astonishment and disappointment, I haven’t told the children they are not redeemable yet. I am an optimist, I believe the company will restore quality service to it’s loyal customers and again offer redeemable points for “kool” prizes for children. There’s mnore than enough disappointment in the country today…not the discontinuation of the kool-aid points too!

I was very disappointed also when finding out that you no longer can redeem the kool-aid points. I have been saving them for over 20 years and have a ton of them that I would like to redeem. I never even knew that they had a catalog you could order from. I have not always had access to the internet either. Then finally, one day, I was going online to find out what I could redeem them for only to see that they are no longer doing that. I am a very disappointed kool-aid customer. I would love to see you bring back the points, or at least let us redeem the ones we have!

How sad. I’ve noticed only recently that points no longer are even available on the packets. I’ve thousands saved up from the past decade, and now they’re completely unusable. Honestly, buying something to save up for little things like that is generally silly, but my family has bought Kool-Aid specifically over other, cheaper brands for the points.
Though I guess that’s how marketing works.

well i was so excited when i counted up my points then i got online and no longer can use them. :( needless to say we will not be buying kool-aid anymore because of this, it was an exciting thing to save them up with my boys and get something out of it. It just doesn’t happen anymore these days and i though you were the last company that still cared about the customers and kids. Like cereal you used to get the toys in the box now you have to seve 10 box tops and send money for a toy that breaks in a few days anyways, very sad… what you should do is send coupons for kool-aid in exchange for the points people have saved in some cases since we were kids.

just like everyone else. ive been collecting koolaid points for a while. why would you get rid of them. it doesnt make any since. any idea how many consumers buy koolaid just because of the points? i dont think it will take long for them to bring it back. besides, its not like they are actually paying for these products any way. anything that they make themselves doesnt cost them much of anything. they make money off the overpriced shipping and handling charges. very disappointed in koolaid. it was the one company out there that was truly pro-children. i will no longer buy koolaid, back to fruit juice for me. they dont offer points, but they dont claim to and then later take it away, sure my kid will be ok with it as well. dont have the heart to tell him that koolaid is taking the points system away. im gonna have to go and buy something and pretend that i got it from you

Bring the Kool-aid program back. I still have stuff i sent away for in the 70′s. I’d like my kids to experience Kool-Aid like I once did. This is not good PR for your company. Any good marketing director would be all over this and bring back the program to keep customers and consumers happy as well as creating/bringing back to life a program that all people young and old can participate in. Your company needs to thrive once again. You’re doing more harm by not working this out fast enough. I’m looking forward to seeing someone STEP UP and get the program rolling again!!

I like many others have been saving points for approx. 20yrs. Over the past 5 years I have been going online and looking for something decent to use these points for. Unfortunately lately nothing really appealed to my kids. So we continued to save in the hopes that they would bring up something that wasn’t so cheesy. Now we find out that they haved cancelled the program. Given the fact that they continue to post points on their products this smacks of fraud.

I agree it’s sad, and I too would have liked to redeem my points for prizes, but in the long run it would be better (fiscally) for Kraft to just offer purchasing high quality Kool-Aid products (such as pitcher/glass sets, beach towels etc…) for profit on their website. The number of devoted fans on this website alone says to me that Kraft could in fact turn a negative into a positive experience. I think, if Kraft were to pursue a for-profit venture with the Kool-Aid Man, they should offer all the loyal point collectors a discount so they don’t feel ripped off and cheated. And finally, I agree they need to step up to the plate and change the packaging — it’s really cruel to continue a hoax such as this!

All this is doing is causing not just disapointment in my life but many childrens lifes out there that picked this up for a hobby when they’re parents make kool-aid or they do. Please i beg you please bring them back!!! I don’t want to throw all my points away because i have worked too long at accumalating these to just through them away. Please please bring them back!!!!!!

I just graduated from high school. I’ve been saving points my entire life. I use to yell at people when they threw them away. I make everyone in my family drink Kool-Aid so I can have the points. I have been saving points for years planning to get prizes after graduation so my family will see that all theses years wasn’t a waste. and i look up. And what? to my horrible suprise… it was all a huge waste of my time. and i have nothing to show for it except about 50,000 worthless kool-aid points. Im praying I am going to wake up and find out that this was all a horrible dream. PLEASE let me wake up!

Every year we collect points and wait for the forms to come out in the summer – I can not believe that they have discontinued the points program. My kids and I have been ordering stuff with points for 17 years. Now we have more than I want to count up that are just goning in the trash. I guess water is better for you anyway.
This is the thanks you get for spending extra instead of buying cheap stuff.

NO MORE POINT for gifts. WHY?????????????? please bring it back. i do not want to throw away years of investments. i have bags of points. we average about three packs a day, more in the summer. i only have one grandson and a daughter at home. my husband drinks about 2 pitchers EACH day. That is a lot of KOOL-AID, I keep an average of 3 bags of sugar in the cabinet each day just for KOOL-AID. Please bring the program back.

this is just one more sad state of affairs in america today. as i scrolled down and saw all the posts i was surprised at how many ameircans still have some family values. big companies do not care about loyalty because if you don’t drink koolaid you will surely be buying one of their other products. i used to believe that the little guy counted but these are not those days anymore. i have been collecting kool aid points also since my 23 year old son was 3. just this morning i noticed one of the packets did not have points, so i came to the computer and found out this dissappointing news. kraft foods is not interested in being rewarding to its loyal buyers, there is another right around the corner. all they are interested in is bucks. money and profit is the way of this sad world. kraft has so many products and subcompanies i would not be surprised to see kool aid disappear altogether. they just do not care about people like us.

I am sooo disappointed! I saved these with my kids, who shared their memory of their Koolaid picture and mugs with my granddaughter, and had just started saving them with her for the same.
It’s a shame the simply financial lesson this provided is being discontinued. Saving for a goal isn’t necessary or encouraged anymore.- maybe little koolaid charge cards will be issued …

Shame on you Kraft Foods!!! You’ve forgotten how humble your beginnings where when you went door to door peddling cheese. Times have changed, but the same like minded people who helped you rise to the top, can also help bring about your fall from grace. You would do well to remember this while you launch your program to cheat millions of children and adults by discontinuing Kool-Aid points, and making merchandise unobtainable. Like you I have been around a long time, but unlike you I haven’t forgotten lost my moral values.

We have saved over 6,000 points, then go to the website to see what we can redeem them for and find out that have discontinued the program. That stinks. I remember saving my points as a child and anxiously waiting for my Koo-Aid Man pitcher and mugs. How disappointed my son was when he found out that all the points we saved are now worthless. Shame on the Kraft Company. Its would have been nice for consumers to get notice when offers are going to be discontinued. Our family has around 5000 pts. Now they are worthless pcs of paper.
But Kraft will suffer in the long run. Our family will not purchase any more products by this Company. They show little loyality to their customer base. They take US and our MONEY for granted.
Some ppl would say Not to make a big deal out of points!! But the gifts were for our children. They enjoyed drinking the kool-aid, and getting a gift or two in return.
Kraft will end up going the way of The Big Three Car Makers and K-Mart. When you forget who pays your salaries….

I even found the order form with a lot of neat stuff on it, apparently when I got this order form I didn’t have enough points to order the stuff I wanted at the time so when I did get enough points to order the things I wanted I guess I must have misplaced the order form, so Now I am stuck with a bunch of points and nothing to do with them.. Anyway I grew up on Kool-aid never liked flavor aid I wish the kool-aid man well because without the children he will do nothing. Good luck.

There should be some way to take legal action against them since they still advertise the pionts on there products. That is false information they are putting out there for people if you can no longer use them. They need to take the points off their products or bring back the ability to redeem points since there is such an out cry for them. There are so many people that are upset with kool-aid for this including myself. I do believe there is action(s) that can be taken against kool-aid for doing this.

We sat down together this past weekend and found out the program no longer existed! You should have seen his face! How could a company so big, not be able to get support and find items that were worth wild for point collectors to get cool stuff. I was lucky enough years ago to get in on the VideoNow deal with disc’s, that was totally awesome! I truly do hope that this program comes back, but for now, I have to deal with one sad little boy and he is mad at Kool-aid for doing this. He won’t even drink it any more. Now late fees are removed! You can be 7 days late returning and owe NOTHING!!! Maybe Kraft Foods will take heed to this because there is someone out there that their points being redeemable means more about (principal of the fact) than anything else including money that it takes to get you to do the right thing for your loyal consumers. This is not the right way to end a program and is very deceiving when points are still printed on packages I bought yesterday Nov 16,2008!!!! ERGGGGGGGG REALLY ANNOYS ME ABOUT BIG COMPANIES!!!!!!

My kids and I have been saving the Kool aid points for years. Now to our suprise, when we log on to check out redemption for awards, there is NO LONGER a program. The joy of saving and clipping the koolaid points over the years seem to be have done in vain :( It would be nice if there was some type of way to use these points instead of just discarding them as the company has done with the program. Keeping fingers crossed!

This is a message I sent to Kraft wanted to share with you all
Hello,

I have the some of the same feelings as many of these people. So why did you get rid of the Kool-Aid points and disappoint so many people??? My husband worked with a company that did work for Kraft and after hearing how they treat their customer and the people who do work for them I am not one bit surprised this is how you treat your customers. Sure brings a VERY BAD REPUTATION TO KRAFT. Maybe you should rethink your decision on getting rid of the Kool-Aid point program. I too had saved the points for my kids when we did send in the points all that happened was our points were returned and you said sorry we no longer have that item. Not even a catalog to get something else. This was years before you discontinued the program.

Thank you for your time

Linda

I never even knew that they had a catalog you could order from. I have not always had access to the internet either. Then finally, one day, I was going online to find out what I could redeem them for only to see that they are no longer doing that. I am a very disappointed kool-aid customer.

Anyway, i wanted my child to enjoy what was part of my life growing up. I finally thought that now is the time to do something and found out that they are now cancelled. This is a big huge gigantic disapointment for my life. Why even put points on things if you are just going to cancel this stuff out. All this is doing is causing not just disapointment in my life but many childrens lifes out there that picked this up for a hobby when they’re parents make kool-aid or they do. Please i beg you please bring them back!!! I don’t want to throw all my points away because i have worked too long at accumalating these to just through them away. I have been saving points for years planning to get prizes after graduation so my family will see that all theses years wasn’t a waste. and i look up. And what? to my horrible suprise… it was all a huge waste of my time. and i have nothing to show for it except about 50,000 worthless kool-aid points. NO MORE POINT for gifts. WHY?????????????? please bring it back. i do not want to throw away years of investments. i have bags of points. we average about three packs a day, more in the summer. i only have one grandson and a daughter at home. my husband drinks about 2 pitchers EACH day. this is just one more sad state of affairs in america today. as i scrolled down and saw all the posts i was surprised at how many ameircans still have some family values. big companies do not care about loyalty because if you don’t drink koolaid you will surely be buying one of their other products. i used to believe that the little guy counted but these are not those days anymore. i have been collecting kool aid points also since my 23 year old son was 3. just this morning i noticed one of the packets did not have points, so i came to the computer and found out this dissappointing news. kraft foods is not interested in being rewarding to its loyal buyers, there is another right around the corner. all they are interested in is bucks. money and profit is the way of this sad world. kraft has so many products and subcompanies i would not be surprised to see kool aid disappear altogether. they just do not care about people like us.

Times have changed, but the same like minded people who helped you rise to the top, can also help bring about your fall from grace. You would do well to remember this while you launch your program to cheat millions of children and adults by discontinuing Kool-Aid points, and making merchandise unobtainable.

It’s sad indeed that the redemption program for Kool-Aid points is no longer available. I have been saving these points for 25 years. When my children were younger they could’nt wait to redeem them. I continued to save the points through nieces and nephews and suddenly came across a bagful. I’ve accumulated over 4,000 points. Now what do I do? Well, I’m going to hold on to them in hopes that the program will return, hopefully for my grandchildren.

I thought the point system was a way for the nation’s number-one kid’s softdrink to give back to it’s customers for patronizing it’s product. It seems no consideration was given to the many millions of patrons who helped make Kool-Aid what it is today. Shame on you. From the looks of this web-site,there are many more patrons adults, adolencants, and kids that are very disappointed. Com’on Kool-Aide. Fix the problem. Do the right thing.

I totally forgot about Kool Points until I was packing for a move & found over 600 of them! Now that I’ve got enough to get something Kool to remember my childhood, the whole program is ending on a bad note. You used to be able to get all kinds of great stuff, now there’s only 4 basic items available which is just plain sad:-{

Im sad to hear kool-Aid wont be doing points rewards. I remember when I was a kid my mom use to turn them in and get a pitcher and mugs. Now that I have a family i looked it up to see how to do it and found this sight, Im really sad that i missed out, I wish they would keep doing it, I know alot of ppl who would love some of their old products even if it cost including me to capture some of my childhood memories……

My Mom passed away on April 14, 2010. I just found a box of kool aid points she had been saving for my son, her youngest grandchild. I wanted to complete this for her so I went on line and just found out that it ended on June 30, 2010. I was so sad. I wish that I had found the box sooner.

THATS MESS UP FOR KIDS
KOOL-AID IS NOT COOL ANY MORE, ITS JUST OTHER SALES MARKING DRINK
YOU JUST TOOK AWAY FROM THE KIDS. KOOL-AID IS NOT KOOL ANY MORE ITS JUST A DRINK ALONG WITH THE OTHERS DRINKS.
SO NOW WHAT WILL WE DO WITH THE POINTS REWARDS ? THAT TOOK SO LONG TO SAVE.
OR DO YOU CARE? I GUST NOT OR KOOL-AID WOULD HAVE NOT TAKEN OUR POINTS REWARDS AWAY.

I agree with the other people. I have over 900 points saved up and I would really like to do something with them not just throw them away. I have gotten other products from the points and they were very good. So koolaid lets keep the point rewards going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been saving for years and years and I just found out they discontinued the points. In the past, I have saved so many points that I have redeemed them for quite a bit of items, but I guess no more. For my own personal knowledge, I have 7421 points I will be throwing away (of which 236 are the Mega Mountain Twists double points). I can not believe that an American icon like Kool-Aid would do something like this to their loyal customers. I have bought my last kool-aid product. There will be no more.

I have saved Kool-Aid points since childhood. I remember my sister and I ordering items from Kool-Aid that we would otherwise not have had. With ten and sometimes 12 people to feed (all my brothers, sisters, mom and dad) there wasn’t enough money for for anything extra. We did not get birthday presents and seldom got a birthday cake. There were no birthday parties for anyone. Christmas presents usually came from the local Lyons Club. Kool-Aid points were a way my sister and I could get toys. We each had Skip and Hops which created many great childhood memories. We also ordered other items from Kool-Aid but this was our favorite. I now have over 1000 points and would love to redeem them for Kool-Aid items. PLEASE consider reinstating this program. I think it teaches kids (and adult) to save (weather it be money or points) for an item. Other major companies use the rewards system for customers to receive rewards for points earned for example: airlines, credit card companies, and even hotel and motels, so why not an old favorite—–Kool-Aid.

Are you kidding me?! My heart just broke a little inside, My pop and I used to collect the points as I was growing up and we wouldn’t buy any kool aid that had no points on them, I was so excited when the tubs of powder came out and got multiple points for one item! Now I am in the Army and my father has fallen ill and I have so many points and I wanted to get something with them to show my father that our hard work will pay off and now that is just crushed, I cant believe this crap. Thank god I switched to crystal light!

I love Koolaid. I was wondering why some of the newer envelopes didn’t have any codes, and this is the first time I had a chance to check it out. I too have saved points ever since they started. My daughter is 20 in a few days and will be disappointed to find out that she can no longer get gifts. One easter I bought about 100 packets and put them on the floor in a flower shape for her to wake up to easter morning. I am devastated. I can’t throw them out!

I also was disappointed to read about the change in Kool-Aid. As a parent I also raised my children on it they enjoy making the Kool-aide and drinking it. The best rewarded was when they send in for the catalog. The rewarded can in when they save the point to send in for Kool-Aid picture and cups. The best one of the item was the cool cups that would come in different colors. It would freeze the drinks, and the kids would get a kick out of it calling it a homemade slush. Now my grandchildren approached me and requested about the cool cups.
