Greenpoints members in the PA, OH, and WV areas have been able to earn points offline on their purchases at Shop’n'Save grocery stores since early 2002, but that’s about to change. According to articles at TheDerrick.com and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Shop’n'Save is discontinuing its program as of March 17. Through that date, shoppers can choose to redeem their points for instant discounts (2,500 points = $2 off or 9,000 points = $10 off) or for $10 Shop’n'Save GCs to use later (for 10,000 points). The points will still be good after March 17, but only available for online redemption.
Shop’n'Save stores were purchased by the SuperValu chain, and now SuperValu is selling many of their regional stores. There are at least two independent Shop’n'Saves that will continue on with Greenpoints, but the majority of the chain will cut the program as of March 17.
