More Changes to Sploofus Points System

April 5, 2005 · 0 comments

Sploofus has once again changed its member points system, this time in response to member complaints about the fairness of the showdowns and wager system. There may be something to be said about that, as it seems like the same couple of people are always in the top 10 monthly statistics.
Under the current system, the only activities that count toward your monthly points total (which the top 3 scorers at month’s end receive prizes for) are the Question of the Day, taking quizzes, and other people taking quizzes you authored.
Probably to ensure that users continue to partake in the other activities that earn jackpot points (that go into your total but don’t count toward prizes), Sploofus upped the value of referral points to 10,000 and the WordRounds prizes jumped way up as well.
Sploofus is also pushing to increase the quality of their quizzes, eliminating the Extra Easy quizzes (just weeks after getting rid of the About Me category) and requesting that users anonymously report quizzes that aren’t truly a test of trivial knowledge.
This definitely levels the playing field for all of us and encourages authoring challenging but fun quizzes. Hope to see some different folks on the top of the leaderboard this month!
