Best Buy Reward Zone Program Changes Effective July 2013

rewardzoneBest Buy announced today a couple of changes to their RewardZone rewards program, effective 7/30/13:

1.  RewardZone points will no longer expire at the end of the year; they’ll carry over as long as you have some activity in your account every 12 months.  Their end of year point expiration was a huge complaint members had when this was change was implemented in 2009, so this is something I’m happy to see changed back.

2.  Reward Zone credit card purchases made with promotional financing will no longer qualify for rewards.  Other purchases made with the card will earn 5% back in rewards.  Either way, the purchases will continue to count toward the minimum requirement for Premier Silver status.

I’m not a RZ credit card holder so #2 doesn’t impact me, but I’m really happy to see the end of the year-end forfeiture of unused Reward Zone points.

RewardZone is free to join — earn 1 point per dollar spent at Best Buy, and 250 points = a $5 reward certificate.  Get more information on the program here.

Once again Best buy is reducing benefits and the public falls for it. Return policy for $2500 spent in prior years was 60 days, Now it is 45 days when you spend $3500. I guess people will believe anything when you say the rewards program is improved. What a joke.
