Macy’s Launches Rewards Program – Star Rewards

January 20, 2005 · 4 comments

Got a Macy’s card? Then you’re in for a treat. Macy’s announced today that it is launching a new customer rewards program, effective on March 1. All current cardholders will receive a new card, color-coded according to how much you purchase. The lowest level is Red, then Gold, Platinum, and finally their biggest customers get an Elite Star Rewards card.
The more you spend, the better the corresponding benefit. Higher level cards get merchandise certificates worth a higher percentage, free services like gift-wrap, and exclusive offers and events. All cards will track participating in their frequent purchase programs like for hosiery and lingerie.
More information is in the press release, here.

I have a red card. On my invoice it says I have $125.00 star rewards. Can I use this amount towards a food mixer?

You are right.. they want you to go into debt so you can get a fancy card… I went from Platinum to Red; the lowest level because I was out of the country for a period of time. I had to pay off approximately 1200.00 so I could use $200.00.

I intend to call Terry J. Lundgren President and CEO of Macy’s New York City and find out why I have to go into debt in order to get a card that I am able to use without buying out the store on a monthly basis.

Maybe they don’t know that there is a store named Nordstrom’s that would be happy to have your business.
