Last week, Memolink had a one point site visit that could be clicked multiple times for credit. This was a programming glitch — an error on Memolink’s part — but their reaction to it was not to simply take back the extra points. ML took advantage of this opportunity to delete user accounts, in some cases accounts with large (9,000+) point balances or accounts with outstanding redemptions which ML cancelled.
This is their explanation, from the email they sent to members inquiring about their inability to log in: “Memolink may remove points from a members account and/or and terminate said account if we feel that the member has violated the spirit or intent of our partners offers or the Memolink program. If a Memolink account is terminated by Memolink, all accumulated points are forfeited and any pending prizes canceled and forfeited as well. This decision is final.”
The email says they only nuked the accounts of people clicking the link >25 times. There are already forum posts indicating otherwise (yes more than once, but way fewer than 25).
With wording as broad as this: “if we FEEL that the member has violated the SPIRIT OR INTENT…”, doesn’t this pretty much give them free reign to delete just about anyone?
Is it fair for ML to delete OUTSTANDING REDEMPTIONS because someone clicked a link multiple times (which was ML’s programming error in the first place… if it was indeed an error)? Those points were earned and cashed in way before this incident.
I’m sorry, but I think the timing of this is way too coincidental to be…well, coincidental. My gut feel is that either a) Memolink set those people up by intentionally putting in a link that could be clicked multiple times for credit and would give them (lame) grounds for deletion, or b) Memolink took advantage of THEIR OWN ERROR to delete those users and help cancel their debt.
Memolink continues their downward spiral. It’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Boycot Memolink/Memogold. Don’t waste your time play a game that doesn’t pay off. I’ve had trouble with them for years.
they delted my account and i only clicked it maybe 5 times…they owed me several gift cards and i feel they just didn’t want to pay…i am not wasting anymore time on them!!!
I think we should find a lawyer to file a class action law suit to force these crooks at Memolink to pay what they owed. I have no doubt they intentionally set up that link to get out of paying. If you are a programmer, you know these links are set up with a template of sorts, and all you need is a new link URL, everything else would be automatic for every link they set up. So it is would be very hard for a glitch to happen while all other links on the same page would work properly.
You can file a report at http://ripoffreport.com/default.asp
On the site it says…
FILING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT & NOTIFYING THE AUTHORITIES
Filing a Rip-off Report
I had over 16,200 points in the memolink account when I was deleted, that was enough to receive a $100.00 gift certificate from a few places. I already had 2 ($100.00) gift certificates from Walmart coming that just never seemed to comeand I don’t know if they ever will. There is no doubt that this was a plan to intentionally delete out any of the customers who have earned alot over the years and it was an error on their part.
Okay to the ones complaining that you got deleted because you clicked on the links more than one time. Is that consider cheating? In my book, that is cheating. I only click on those links once. One time is enough. Yes, I am not getting my latest redemption, but I don’t have any complaints because they have always have good record to responding to my questions when I needed help. I just don;t think it is fair that people click on these links more than one time while I work it clicking once, and build myself up steadily. I am just tired when cheaters complain when they get caught.
I disagree. IF the link said something to the effect of, “1 pt daily” and people clicked it more than once, ML would have a better case. EVEN THEN, I think it’d be ridiculously extreme to delete those users’ accounts, rather than to just dock them the extra points. But the error (if it was indeed an error) was MEMOLINK’S! To punish their users for taking advantage of THEIR error is preposterous! Suppose, as was the case with some of the above users, that you had several oustanding redemptions you’d been waiting on for a year or so. Wouldn’t it seem to you AWFULLY COINCIDENTAL that this “error” on ML’s part popped up when it did? And how fair is it that their past activity in earning the points for those prior redemptions was just (snap) written off like ML did because of their activities ONE DAY in clicking a link that was (supposedly) ML’s error??? The only reason they’re doing this is financial. And it’s absolutely unfair treatment of their users, and I think these guys have SERIOUS grounds for a lawsuit.
It appears my account is gone also. I had more than 4000 points and an outstanding redemption for $25 cash that was overdue. Memolink has a long history of lying about redemptions and other matters.
They recently claimed in an email to a member that they did not deduct poins even when they did not get paid from the advertiser. That was absolutely false. I personally had $200 in redemptions cancelled because the points were from the heavily promoted and seriously fraudulent CyberRebate.com. That was in addition to more than $1000 actually lost with CyberRebate.com that could not be charged back to the credit cards I used. This stunt is pretty much more of the same from Memolink.
There was nothing I saw that a link could not be clicked more than once. Their movie survey often appears on the “visit sites” page as well as a popup when you log in, and as an email offer on the same day. If they made a programming error the most they should do is to deduct points earned due to their own error. They have stolen so much from so many for so long that any class action against them should also ask for treble damages under the antiracketeering statute. Stealing from the members is part of their business plan.
I received an email from Memolink that stated, “We do realize that the root of the problem was something that was broken on our Website. However, many of our members realized this and then contacted us to let us know.”
My question is, “Why didn’t you fix the problem when the first member contacted you, why did you let it continue?”
There is no indication that you cannot click on an offer more than once. In fact, other websites have a message that comes up something like,”You have already received a point for this offer or You have already visited this sponser.”
I do not feel that I violated the spirit or intent of the Memolink program or its’ partners offers. I believe that the violation was on the part of Memolink. Thank You. Lucy
It seems my account has been restored and Memolink’s reply to my inquiry made no mention of it ever being deleted.
Maybe they are rethinking a response to their own failure that was way too drastic.
I await future developments at Memolink, but I will never again purchase through their site when there are more dependable alternatives. Memolink’s mismanagement and lack of honesty and forthrightness has brought about the problems they now suffer. They just want to blame others for their own failings.
i e-mailed them asking explaining that the points should have been docked and not my account account delted….i am seriously thinging of trying to get a class action together if the don’t get on top of thing!!!
One Memolink member who was deleted posted this morning on one of the deal forums that her account had been reinstated. Is ML having a change of heart? (Or perhaps their lawyers advised them to reverse their decision?) If you had your account deleted, you might want to try approaching ML again.
This was definitly a setup to try and reduce their debt! No reputable company would terminate someones account because of their own error.
I am now worried that an error on my last prize requested is going to get me thrown off. I hit the submit button once but got two prizes requested and I AM NOW IN NEGATIVE POINTS. A Cus Sys Support letter to fix this has gone unanswered.
I am also waiting WAITING 6 MONTHES for prizes.

Memolink shafted me as well on that recent broken link thing. Maybe I did click on it 50 times, but on something like that, especially if you’re a first-time offender, you should only lose the extra points gained from clicking, and also receive a warning explaining that you did improperly and what specific consequences will occur if you do that again. Then you should only have your account terminated if you had done something like the above, receive the warning, and then are caught doing that again. In my case, I was subsequently unable to get logged in, and then after I contacted customer service about this, I was advised my account had been terminated and all my points were forfeited and that was their final decision. COLD! My account was essentially terminated without notice. I protested, citing that I was a four-year customer who stood by them despite horrible shipping delays in years past for earned prizes but of course Memolink didn’t waver. It turned out I forfeited 2453 points (far less than the 16200 that one lost per an earlier poster), and maybe I clicked more times on that broken link than others had, but Memolink is terminating accounts over additional PENNIES earned by customers without notice. Class-action lawsuits as suggested in another earlier poster look inviting, but it probably will be to no avail because I have a gut feeling Memolink will file for bankruptcy in the near future…maybe these recent account terminations are to prevent that if they’re trying to reduce debt at this time. I also feel Memolink will soon shut down…they definitely have big problems and I would suggest customers with very few or no points to voluntarily close their accounts, and those considering to sign up to not do so.
I was happy to come upon this site thru a CreationsRewards email as I didn’t know what happened until I read these notices. I guess my acount has also been terminated as I have been unable to log in. I sent them an email with NO response I think it is unfair to be penalized; they should have just removed the extra points. I had a balance of about 11,000 points in my account.
My account was also deleted. They should have just removed the extra points
It’s me again. I had over 16,200 points in Memolink when I was deleted. I asked Memolink to restore my account and today they did.
They shafted me too, and still haven’t responded to my messages on their message board system. I stuck with them so long. It really mankes me angry.
memolink currently owes me about 8 prizes and one of them is a $100.00 webcertificate which they not sent yet and its been about six weeks and it should of done got to me since its an emailed prize.i contacted them and they say wait 16 to 20 weeks, but i noticed some changes lately when i claimed $10.00 in wendys certificates that the waiting time now says 4 to 8 weeks.i think if we earn the points once they clear memolink should have to mail out prizes without delay.cause the points are like cash and we are buying the prizes.i dont think they have the prizes or funds and thats why they are so far behind.now the site is down for changes it says.i sure wish they would pay everyone they owe in prizes.
Hi, I just wanted to says that they have always honored my redemptions. Sometimes it took them a long time but they always sent me emails to keep me updated with the status of my prizes when they couldn’t be sent out as expected. I’ve been a member for several years and have received at least 6 gift cards ranging from $15 to $100.
My recent experience comes a year and 2 months since the last post on the subject of Memolink deleating accounts. Yes, mine was deleated with no warning or explanation and numerous postings I have sent through their customer service help page have gone unanswered. My loss is 146,342 points plus at least 3720 points pending for surveys and points pending for a purchase. Had these point all come together in my account I would have had more than enough for a $100.00 redemption. At no time that I am aware of have I clicked an offer repeatedly and earned points for each try. It never occurred to me that my dismissal could be the result of visiting an offer site too many times until I found this thread. I don’t see what difference it should make as long as I’m not receiving points for each visit. I do recall that one of the last OTX surveys I attempted before getting the boot, I re-entered the site several times in an attempt to find a survey I could complete, but without success, therefore no points were earned. Lots of times OTX surveys get terminated mid survey with no, “Sorry, you did not qualify” notification…”Bam” you’re knocked back to Memolink. I’ve always assumed that was some sort of technical problem so saw no reason not to attempt to re-start the survey, even if it didn’t turn out to be the same survey. It seems to me to be If that is the cause of my account being deleted, Momolink could at least offer an explanation and a chance for me to explain.
Does anyone know if a class action suit was ever started and how to get involved?
