Upromise’s Cyber Monday Fail

November 28, 2011 · 1 comment

So, I’m doing the Cyber Monday shopping thing, which went live at most retailers at midnight oh-one ET, and I have windows open to Ebates, Upromise, MrRebates, and QuickRewards.net, cherry-picking rates.  I’m a tad bit irritated that while Ebates, on the west coast, has already gone live with their Cyber Monday cashback increases, Upromise (also on the west coast) still hasn’t revealed their “unbelievable” last three merchants with increased cashback.  Whatever.

So I see on a deal forum that Tiger Direct has finally gone live with their Cyber Monday deals, so I check the four rewards sites to see who has the best Tiger Direct rate… and guess what?

Upromise is down.  Totally down.  “Tweaking our site,” the message says.  In FF, it gives me the option to shop at a handful of stores (without telling me the cashback rate).  In IE, where I’m not cookied into my login, I get nada.  Nothing.  Too bad, so sad.

The biggest online shopping day of the year, and you’re two hours behind in revealing all of your Cyber Monday cashback increases and then YOUR SITE GOES DOWN???  Are you frickin’ kidding me???

I can not tell you how disappointed I am in this.  Upromise, you guys are supposed to be one of the most professional sites out there.  This is bullcrap.

Update, 1:39am — Upromise is back after about 45 minutes of down time.  Their Cyber Monday page is somewhat glitched up but at least it’s operational.  No doubt someone’s head is gonna roll over this.

I dunno about brave… I was just stopped dead in my tracks because I wanted to shop there! Frustrating!

Upromise was in good company though — even the almighty DisneyStore has had problems keeping their site up:
